India announce 23-man AFC Asian Cup squad
With the 2019 Asian Cup in UAE right around the corner, India announced their 23-man squad for the tournament, on Wednesday.
India boss Stephen Constantine has named his final squad for this winter’s AFC Asian Cup as the Blue Tigers aim to do the impossible and beat the hosts UAE in their group game, January, 2019.
Manager Stephen Constantine will feel the crop of players he has selected will give them more than a fighting chance. The Blue Tigers had to scrape through their final qualifying group, with the likes of host UAE, Bahrain and Thailand.
The Indians will begin their campaign against Thailand on January 6. Before that, the boy’s are set to face Oman in a closed doors friendly game on December 27, before taking on a local club on December 30th in their preparation for the AFC Asian Cup.
The Indian Football Team Asian Cup squad in full:
Goalkeepers: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Amrinder Singh, Vishal Kaith.
Defenders: Pritam Kotal, Sarthak Golui, Salam Ranjan Singh, Anas Edathodika, Sandesh Jhingan, Subhasish Bose, Narayan Das.
Midfielders: Udanta Singh, Jackichand Singh, Anirudh Thapa, Germanpreet Singh, Vinit Rai, Rowllin Borges, Pronay Halder, Ashique Kuruniyan, Halicharan Narzary.
Forwards: Sunil Chhetri, Jeje Lalpekhlua, Sumeet Passi, Balwant Singh.
