Tennis: Ankita Raina storms her way to the Asian Games semis

It was an excellent performance by Ankita Raina in her quarter-final match at the Asian Games 2018 as Indian number one put up an outstanding and fearless performance to provide the Wong Chong some trouble.

India number one Ankita Raina is into the 2018 Asian Games semifinal after a straight sets victory over Hong Kong’s Eudice Wong Chong. Ankita  coasted to a 6-4, 6-1 win as she used a quick start to roll her competitor. Ankita walked into trouble in the first set of the match, but she would eventually overpower the determined Eudice Wong Chong and cement her place at a shot at history.

Anita, playing with great confidence, ousted the Hong Kong without facing many problems as the Indian was just too good today, looking very impressive.

There’s nothing Ankita Raina can’t do on a tennis court and she showed it today. Dictating play throughout, she, showed her skills at net, winning almost half of the points when coming forward, possesses a terrific serve, winning 66% of her first serves and opportunistic in her chances, converting five of nine break points.

Add in that she is a fine mover and athletic and the result should not come as much of a surprise to those who saw it. If she plays to this level the remainder of the tournament, she will be holding the trophy come days.
