In text messages to their family members, a Texas couple on a dream journey to Fiji suffered being violently ill but provided no sign they were stressed the mystery condition that afflicted them would take their lives

Michelle and David Paul died 2 days apart after getting here in Fiji on May 22 and becoming seriously ill not long after.

The Fiji Health Ministry has been working with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Company to figure out the condition that took the lives of two seemingly healthy people.

Text messages obtained by ABC News from loved ones clarified the couple’s deteriorating conditions and the treatment they were offered by doctors at a local center.

David and Michelle Paul passed away of a mystical disease while vacationing in Fiji, their family stated.

” We are both going to doctor now,” Michelle Paul, 35, texted her moms and dads, who live in Nevada, not long after she and her other half showed up in Fiji. “We have actually been tossing up for 8 hours. Dave has diarrhea. My hands are numb. We will text when we can.”.

After going back to their hotel, Michelle Paul composed another text to her mother, Juliet Calanog, offering her an update on the treatment they got at the clinic.

” We just returned from the clinic. They offered us fluids and anti-nausea drip,” Michelle Paul wrote. “They provided us electrolyte packages and anti-nausea tablets. We still do not feel 100%. Going to rest in our room.”.

Juliet Calanog reacted, advising her daughter in a text to “slow down.”.

” Make sure,” she composed. “Consume a lot of fluid, mineral water. You require to rest.”.

However the treatments the couple received didn’t work.

Michelle Paul died on May 25 and her 37- year-old other half died two days later on.

The Health Ministry in Fiji said an examination into the cause of death is continuous.

” Influenza has been eliminated, and at this phase, we do not believe there is a danger to the general public,” the Fiji Ministry of Health said in a statement launched on Tuesday. “It would be premature to hypothesize even more on the cause of death till the examination is complete.”

David and Michelle Paul died of a mysterious illness while vacationing in Fiji, their household said.

Five people, including medical personnel who was available in close contact with the couple at the center where they were treated and both passed away, have been quarantined and are being kept an eye on at a medical facility in Nadi, Fiji, as a precaution.

The Health Ministry said those under observation are all “presently well.”

Medical staff at the Nadi Hospital told ABC News that loved ones of the 5 individuals under observation are not being enabled to visit them.

A spokesperson for the World Health Company, or WHO, stated in a statement on Tuesday the company is “providing access to lab and other technical services in Australia” to analyze specimens taken throughout autopsies of Michelle and David Paul.

” We are working closely with the Ministry, the CDC and our partners,” WHO’s statement reads.

A Fiji Health Ministry spokeswoman would only validate to ABC News that blood samples from the couple were sent out to a lab abroad for screening and the results could come back as early as completion of this week.

” I’m stuck in a problem,” David Paul’s sibling, Rebecca Ward, stated in an interview on ABC’s “Good Early morning America” on Wednesday. “You think you’re going to have a response today and you get a call that they don’t know.”
